He came...He went leaving behind a broken heart

Recently my eight week whirlwind relationship has ended. It ended as unexpectedly as it started and I discovered that it is true what they say “What starts fast, ends fast”.

We met at a trade show; he was a chef preparing food behind our booth for another vendor at the show. So for three days we chatted and I began to notice that he went out of his way to talk to me, even washed my utensils. He mentioned that he was single and I still did not clue in that it was for my benefit. It was not until the last day of the show he said he was going to make apple pie. I mention that I like apple pie and asked if he would deliver it to me. Well by the end of the show he had my number. He called me a couple days later and set up a date in which he showed up with apple pie. I was hooked.

He was like no other, he was forward, honest and he said what he was feeling. It was very overwhelming and wonderful. I did not have a chance to over think the situation because before I know it he was calling me his girl. From the moment I first saw him I felt at ease and that feeling just grew the more we were together. I had a happy world before him but with him it became blissful. He said he wanted me to feel safe in his arms and I finally did.

In my blissful safe state I had no idea it was going to end. Last Friday he shows up at my door, he hugs me shaking then tells me he is taking a job out west. He said it was the hardest decision he has had to make because he said he has never felt like this about anyone before. He has to take the job because it is to further his career. He leaves me confused and heartbroken. I have not talked to him since that day, I have reached out but he will not contact me. I guess that hardest decision of his life was not that hard after all.

He was like a tornado tearing through my life by the time he passed through he left me standing alone in total devastation. After 5 days of people avoidance and lying around I’m finally back to being myself again thanks to my wonderful group of girlfriends. They were there for me in an instant, they let me cry, mope, then finally got me off my butt and back to the land of the living. They are my own personal disaster repair crew. I love them whole heartedly.

It’s hard to put yourself out there and it can hurt; man can it hurt but it has to be done because one day it will be right and there won’t be any hurt. The secret to moving on is creating a happy secure place of your own, this makes mending your broken heart that much easier.

If your heart is aching it will feel better, the ache eases every day. That feeling of not being able to breathe will pass and before you know it you will laugh again.  Pat Benatar said it best “Love is a battlefield” so ladies keep battling because eventually it will only be you and  your Knight in shining armour standing on the battlefield.

Hang in there!

Text dating...

There is now a website for singles to meet other singles through text messaging call Text Dating.  The thing I hate most in the dating world today is the text message and now you can go online look at pics of singles and text them. Why would any half sane person want to meet someone that way?
Check out this guy’s profile...

I'm just an intelligent guy with a great sense of humor. I'm someone who you'd be proud to take home to mom (mom will love me more than you do, I bet). I'm just a good person, looking for a good woman. I am someone who cherishes a good warm relationship. A relationship that goes beyond the physical, and looks into the soul. The kind that makes you feel alive, and glad to be part of something so wonderful. Am I right for you? Who knows? Can't be right for everyone, but if you want to feel wanted while giving the same in return, contact me. If you want to smile, to laugh, to just feel good about life itself, talk to me.

This 31 year old single male wants to find a meaningful relationship with someone over text messaging. How does one create a relationship that makes you feel alive and glad to be part of something wonderful by texting?  Dude FYI saying that my mom will love you more that I do is disturbing on so many levels.

Is this what I am to expect from this site:

Maybe it’s me? Maybe I am the insane person because I refuse to conform to the online world of dating.  Am I the last of a dying breed because I believe people can get to know each other by talking face to face? No this must be the new way of dating for the 20 year olds that don’t know any better, but then I see a pic of some cute old fella that resembles my dad. Dad? Please say it ain’t so? When did you learn to text!?

Let's say NO to Stupidity...Let's Say NO to Mr. 1986

Who would have thought that 2.5 hours of my life wasted would generate numerous text messages from a not quite fully grown man child. Below is the latest text the was sent to me, there are so many things wrong with this message..so many. I do not like to promote stupidity but unfortunately it is all around me.

I have to wonder a few things ...

1) Why does he keep calling me fag? Who in the hell uses that term anymore? It's offense to me and to the gay community. I realize he is stuck in the 80's but COME ON!

2) Why?! On God's green earth would you call a women that you're supposedly interested in a fag? Seriously!!! Is it the drugs? Has he finally fried every last brain cell.

3) Why would you look for me on facebook? I made sure my first priority after that date was to block him from my facebook.

4) Friends?! He is just lucky that if I see him in the street that I don't purposely step on the gas pedal. For me friends with this man means, I will not run him down.

He sent me another message after he did not get a response...

Let's hope that he finally got it!

As for me I am going to take a break from dating, I think 'Mr. 1986' is a sign from the Universe that I am meant to be single at this moment in my life. For all you good guys out there and I know you exist; it sucks to be you because there are guys like 'Mr. 1986" ruining it for your kind.

Let's say NO to Stupidity...Let's Say NO to Mr. 1986!

He Digs MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

This is a text that I received last night from last week’s dating disaster. I guess he has done some reflecting and realized what a tool he was. He is correct in assuming I pegged him as a pot smoking, beer guzzling wanna  be teen, why would I assume otherwise.  I find it totally ridiculous that he even made an attempt to try and set up another date, if you wanted to do it right you should have the first time! Also saying you dig me just makes me want to throw up in my mouth. I’m tired of hearing about grown men behaving like children, living with their mothers, having their mothers call them to get up for work, and showing old videos of themselves in their glory days. Why is it always about them because for the most part they are not that interesting! Yet they are delusional enough to think they have a chance after they have choked on their pot pipe while wearing AC/DC pyjama pants on a first date! Even if he looked like Brad Pitt in ‘True Romance’ where he played Floyd the stoner I would not have gone out with him again.

Who am I kidding Brad Pitt was hot as a stoner!! If my date behaved the way he did and looked like Brad I would have at least made out with him.

Here is my most recent dating DISASTER...

Recently I was fixed up on a blind date through friends, they had mentioned this man before and had run into him while I was on vacation and asked if they could give him my number. Since I do not have much going on at the moment I figured what can it hurt, sure set it up.

He called me on Sunday we chatted and set up the date for the following night so we can actually see each other since neither of us knew what the other looked like and I was told he was quite handsome. So with that I pictured this in my head:

The Date:
We arranged to meet at his place, normally I would not do this but since this was a friend of friends I figured it was okay. He sent me a text telling me to let myself in the side door, because he was running late. I enter the side door to be hit in the face with the stench of smoke (I don’t smoke!). Once inside I thought I had entered  the pad of a 21 year old Rock Star wanna be, but sadly it was the pad of a 42 year old Rock Star wanna be.

The stress kicks in, I calm myself down with thoughts of okay he is just in a transition phase from his divorce, give him a chance see what he looks like.  Finally the great reveal....Remember I had young Michael Pare in my head and this is what walked into the living room:

Yes looks are not everything but we are in 2011 and even though I love the 80’s rock scene I really do not want to date it. He gives me a hug and is super impressed, he was like "Wow your gorgeous! I am so happy that  Big V gave me your number! I can’t believe you’re single, okay fess up what’s your problem?"  He offers me a beer and damn straight I take it!! I need something to stop the screaming in my head.  He tells me that he is sorry that he did not have time to Febreze the place, I laugh because I am sure it is a joke but big surprise there is a big bottle of Febreze on the coffee table.

So we sit and chat and he tells me he will make me dinner I thought sure it's better than going out in public. During that time he downs 6 beers, tries to hide the belch and tells me “Sorry I had to belch, I normally just let them out but the night is still young”.  After we ate he disappeared for a bit, and said he had to change into something more comfortable....So he changed out of his tapered Wrangler jeans into a pair of AC/DC pyjama pants.

OH it gets better, he sparked up his pot pipe and took a toke in which he choked on for 5 minutes.  This is where I was expecting Ashton Kutcher to coming flying through the door saying  “You’ve been Punked!” but alas he did not and this was all too real.  This was my queue to get the hell out of dodge. I said I had to go it was a busy day the next day at work. He came in to hug me and tried to stick his tongue down my throat, I said I don’t do that on a first date (well not this first date). He wanted to go out again I said I’d call him when I got home. I did not call that night cause I just did not want to deal with it, so he text me the following:

I told him very nicely that we are not a match and that we seem to be at different places in our lives. That was my polite way of saying I'm living in 2011 and you are stuck in 1989!!
Oh I forgot to mention that he called me a giant and asked if I had man hands because I am 5’ 9” and he was 5’ 6’!!!

Say no to Valentine's Day!

Today is February 1st; this means that Valentine’s Day is 13 days away. We are now being bombarded with Valentine’s reminders everywhere you go; even Tim’s Horton’s is promoting their gift card for V-day saying ‘Not every gift needs to be a heart shaped box’. I can’t even grab my morning coffee without having Valentine’s Day being shoved down my throat!

Do not assume that I hate Valentine’s Day because I am single. I have always hated it! This hate goes back to elementary school, when we were forced had to handout V-Day cards to our classmates. At the age of 8 there was the stress of making sure that you didn’t give Timmy the nose picker a card that might make him think you like him. Then if Timmy the nose picker gave you a “I Choo – Choo Choose you” card; you had to endure the taunting from your class mates that Timmy loves you and this continues on for the rest to the school year. I also hate nose pickers, is this all because of Timmy? Thanks a lot you little nose picking bastard. Actually nose picking is gross and we should hate nose pickers.

Okay you survived the Valentine’s Day ridiculousness of elementary school, now it’s high school, where you can send secret chocolate heart lollipops to your friends or that crush. This was the time for the popular girls to shine, oh how they flaunted the 20 or so chocolate heart lollipops around, saying they were all from the cutest, coolest boys in the school. We all knew they sent them to each other and probably sent them to themselves because the cool boys had better things to do than send out chocolate lollipops, HELLO that’s what makes them cool! Those same girls made sure to go out of their way to see how many lollipops you got so they can rub it in that you only got two. One from your bestest bud and the other from Sam the crotch scratcher who professed his love every chance he got. The sad thing is Sam was actually a cutie but the ball scratching ruined him, and just made him a joke. I really hope he got that issued sorted out before college.

Now you have ‘The Relationship’ and Valentine’s Day is the day to express your love to your partner. I have a big issue with this, because if you love someone should you not be expressing that love every day? I truly believe V-day is for those that have nothing else to offer, it is for that jackass that thinks if he goes balls out on Valentine’s Day he can continue to be a jackass. It is for those girls dating that jackass to say to their friends how wonderful he is because he left a trail of rose petals to her car door with an invitation to dinner. They shove sappy commercials and ads at us, making the masses think that if you do not get some great over the top gesture on V-day you are not loved enough. It makes single people feel lonely and sad because they think they are missing out. Girls if you are single, think of it as we are just passing time until we meet the great guy who expresses his love everyday in his actions and does need V-day to do some outrageous gesture because you know you are loved.

It has come to my attention that March 14, is ‘Steak and Sex Day’ the man’s Valentine’s Day. Now that’s what I am talking about! Why do men get all the cool stuff? A friend of mine and her hubby celebrate March 14 and have learned over the years that the sex should be had before the steak dinner because after big steak dinner they found that they were to full and bloated for sex games. I can’t wait for the time when I get to participate in ‘Steak and Sex Day’! Giddy Up!

Ladies whether you’re single or taken please do not put too much stock in Valentine’s Day. For you taken ladies don’t be upset if your man isn’t over the top, chances are he does great things all the time. For you single gals, there is no reason to let V-day get you down, remember it is just an over inflated holiday that has no purpose but to make corporate America richer (According to the Greeting Card Association, an estimated one billion valentine cards are sent each year, making Valentine's Day the second largest card-sending holiday of the year)

Let’s use Valentine’s Day to buy a new pair of boots or that sexy over priced top you’ve been eyeing for the last month. Treat yourself because you love yourself and are worth it!

How do you feel about Valentine’s Day, do you love or hate it?

Cheers!

No Glove ...No Love

Is it just me or have has society deemed it acceptable to have no glove lovin? It seems that more and more guys out there want to have unprotected sex. Is it because we hardly hear about AIDS any more, or the dangers of STD’s. Dudes today are all up in the advancements of technology but they have digressed to the free loving ways of the 80’s. They whine that it reduces the pleasure, no shit Sherlock but a little pleasure reduction is better than a lifetime of crotch rot!
I had one misrepresentation say “I don’t use condoms because there are none big enough to fit me”....Really!? Well my interest was piqued, can you blame me. Here was this stocky dude, telling me that he was bigger than rock god Tommy Lee (admit it you have seen the video), I’m sure even Tommy has worn the occasional condom....right?
Curiosity was killing me so I stuck my hand down his pants, and kept reaching and feeling around, it took a few minutes and I finally found his balls however last time I checked you don’t put a condom on your balls...Oh wait I finally found the little guy, oh my aren’t you a wee little thing. He was right, a condom would not fit!!!
I’m not sure when this shift in sexual recklessness happened; but it is happening all the time to me and my single girlfriends. Do we need another sexual epidemic to scare people again? I believe in safe sex; ladies you can have as much sex as you want and with whomever you want just be smart about it.
Just because the stats on STD’s have gone down does not mean that they are not an issue. The stats have declined because people have been practicing safe sex. So beware of the smooth talker who uses such lines as:
“I’m clean, and you look clean”
“I’m not worried; you seem like a nice girl”
“You’re so hot I want to get the full experience”
“There are no condoms big enough”
Have you encountered this? What lines have guys used on you?

Happy Hunting!

Are you interested in a three way?

On Saturday Single Chick and I hit the town. We went to one of our favourite watering holes in downtown TO.  We were hanging by the bar when this very drunk dude after making several attempts to hit on us finally he comes straight out and says “I don’t do this often but are you guys interested in the three way?”  NO!!  Then he shoves 5 dollars at us and tells us to buy a drink on him.  We tell him to keep his money; PLEASE $5 dollars can’t even buy you a beer in downtown TO.  He responds “what if I shove it down your bustier" (btw I was not wearing a bustier but a tank top) I tell him politely that if he touches me he will get punched in the face, he left shortly after that.

This did get us talking about the infamous threesome, we both decided the neither of us want to share a man or have our bits and pieces touch. I’m selfish I want it to be all about me! However I could be persuaded if I were sandwiched between these two hotties. Who am I kidding I don't have that kind of self confidence!

We did agree that if Colin Farrell had approached us for a threesome we probably participate but there would need to be lots of booze and we probably need to drop some E to make that happen.

Would participate in a threesome? Or are you more like us and just like to pretend you could if it involved Leo DeCaprio and Brad Pitt?

Cheers!

Message Sent, Message Recevied!

Recently my boss was complaining about his 15 year old son’s phone bill. It seems his son has sent over 5500 text messages last month. 5500 WTF?! As it turns out this is the norm among teens, his son is just your typical teen after all. I feel it is so sad for kids today, they will never know what it’s like to be excited about anything because they live in an age of instant gratification. Everything is literally at your finger tips, whatever you need to know or do can be done on your phone. We can pay our bills, shop, check e-mails, and can message anyone at any time.

This generation will never know what it’s like to meet someone; give them your number then have to wait until they call you. It was SO exciting to get that message from my mom that ‘Rock God #3’ had called. Then I’d have to call ‘Rock God #3’ back all nervous and stuff, we’d chat then meet up and probably end up dating for a few months or years depending on the rock god. It was slow but exciting process to get to know someone, you’d have to call and chat, and since we did not have cell phones it was all timing. I miss getting home from school/work and having my mom say “that boy called AGAIN!”

Now it’s send text message, instant response, if the response is not instant, panic, take it as rejection move on to the next.  A girl not only has other girls to compete with but has to compete with the internet and its countless dating sites. It takes away the slow process of getting to know someone because there is so much variety at your fingertips that if you are not getting instant gratification you can easily move on to the next.

What’s an old school girl to do? I think we just have to go with the times; after all it is survival of the fittest out there. However tread lightly if you are not text savvy. Be careful if you are texting various friends along with a potential hook up at the same time, make sure you look at who you are responding to. You may accidentally tell the future hook up “I love you man” which was meant for your drunken BFF who had sent you the same message.  Needless to say that potential Hook Up will never happen.

Cheers!

Watch out for crazy....

I been online and sort of doing the dating thing, I’m not as adventurous as Single Chick and her mission of 50 dates. So I don’t really respond to people, yes I know why bother being online.  I read profiles and I try to get a sense of whether it would be worth my time or not and most are NOT.  Am I to picky I don’t know, but my instincts are usually right so I try to listen to them.  One guy had contacted me, I looked at his profile and something didn’t sit right with me, not sure but it was just a sense. So he contacted me again, I still did not respond and then his last contact was the following message, keep in mind we have never talked and nor has he met me. I have cut and pasted what he wrote so the grammar and spelling mistakes are all his!

I would just love for you to stand by my hip for just 30 seconds to sense the real wonder. I can just imagine the empty flakes, and the losers who are vying for your hand and attention. How much longer are you going to hold out for. Until your head is full of grey and in a manic depressive state with no mania to pull at your you to brighten your day. Tell me whats wrong with you for there is nothing wrong with me. You girls supposedly come on here flashing your absurd empty confidence and for what, all talk no action. You think every guy just wants to fuck you and toss you like a dirty dish rag. Where is your acument, your wit, your senses, why are you a hopeless soul. is the grass greener in your world. I am confused. Do you enjoy beig single, do you enjoy there is nobody to show you affection at the end of the day, cook you a nice meal, really care about your feelings, get to the core of who and what you are. What am I missing. When are the lights going to blast off in your cranium. At this pace you will be alone forever, what a shame. I feel sorry for you and can only hope you snap out of your settled ways. It sometimes take the ruthless truth to hit a nerve and I hope this message does just that. Don't you want happiness for once and for all, truly. What the alternative, your vibrator or dildo. Get in the game sunshine.

Yes... this is what’s out there unfortunately. I did not respond to this I really see no need as to why I should. I don’t take it personal for he knows nothing about me. I just fear for the poor girl that does go on a date with him, I truly think he is unbalanced. I did report him, but I have no idea what they do with that and there are countless dating web site out there and he is probably on all of them.

What this jackass does not realize is the my life is very happy and if he were my alternative to being single, I’ll take a vibrator over him any day and as Single Chick so eloquently put it

I suggest you take that ruthless truth of yours and shove it up your fucking ass...and I also suggest you keep it to yourself or you will be the single one forever, not me. Shit head."

Got any AA’s anyone?

Warning Labels...

Have you noticed there is some sort of warning label on everything that you buy; even your morning coffee has a “Hot! Be careful” warning.  Sometimes I think that dudes out there should come with warning labels. Here are some labels I can put on previous dates that myself or one of the Single Gals team has had:

The Ape: Caution things are hairier than they appear. If alcohol is added I will become a loud obnoxious ass and this will result in me dumping you via text message.

F’ed in the head:  Warning may cause alcoholism! You WILL need alcohol in order to find me as attractive as I think I am.  Lots and lots of alcohol.

Small meat package: Objects are not proportionate to size. Everything about me is big: ego, truck, to the size of my bi-ceps but once we get down to it I will leave you wanting another 3 inches.

The Douche Bag: This is kind of like the coffee warning just stating the obvious. If it walks like a douche bag, talks like a douche bag and looks like a douche bag...It’s a douche bag.

Mr. Insecure: Beware, grown man who likes to cause a public scene, sneak alcohol on the subway and who will fall instantly in love with you because I had a troubled youth and I’m lonely.

The Jock: I have yet to grow up. And on our second date I’m going to ask you to go to the bar with me and my buddies where you can listen to me talk about my high school glory days of sports and getting drunk. You’ll love it man.

Mr. “I’ve been hurt”: TOXIC. I’ve been hurt more than others and way more intensely, even though it happened 5 years ago, or was it 2 months ago? I have no idea. But my hurt is worse than yours.

Mr. Mom: May cause accidental impregnation because I’m dying to have kids and that’s all I talk about and all I want to do is coach little league.

Cheers!
Hopeful in TO and Single Chick

50 First Dates – Date #5 – The Unexpected Good Time

So my 5th date is a friend of a friend set-up. My friend had never met, let’s call him “Jack”, or knew anything about him. I didn’t care though, I’m up for anything these days so I agreed.
About three weeks ago Jack called and left a message. I called him back the next day and left him a message. Then I didn’t hear from him for two weeks. I had actually forgotten all about him until my friend mentioned that he told his friend he hadn’t called me back yet and she got mad at him for taking too long. He was like “oh is that too long to call back?” for most girls it is too long, but for me who is trying to accumulate 50 dates in a year, I got over it. He was busy…but who the fuck isn’t?

He finally got in touch and we chatted for a bit and set up a date for last Friday. Friday came and I have to admit that I was borderline wanting to cancel. I was tired and really not into it. I decided to suck it up and dragged myself together. We met at a restaurant and he walked in as I was waiting at the bar. I have to say that at first I was like “ok, not too bad” there was something about him. I just couldn’t put my finger on it.

We got seated, and I was instantly at ease…this is how I know (or thought I knew) that I’m probably not that attracted to them. As dinner went on, we had really good conversation, he made me laugh both intentionally and unintentionally, he was complimentary and wanted to know about me. And then it hit me…“he looks like Jack Black!!” Ha, I knew there was something and for some reason I started to find this attractive!

We had a really good time and he paid (I think guys are starting to get the message!). At the end I was parked further away so he drove me to my car where he kissed me very passionately (although when he leaned in I started to laugh…I just couldn’t help it!!) I was surprised how attracted to him I ended up being…it’s almost like he gave me no choice.

It’s funny how we have these ideal men in our mind, men who our friends picture us with (I have one friend who every time I go on a date or meet a guy she claims to have a dream about it thinking this is the one) and who we picture ourselves with. My guy was always at least 6’, built, had tattoos and probably worked a blue collar type job. This guy is the complete opposite of all that.

Remember girls, be opened minded out there. You never know when it will hit you or with who. He may still turn out to be a total jerk (that’s the 31 year old skeptic, standoffish biatch in me) but at least I now know they don’t all have to be Mark Walbergs!

50 First Dates – Date #4 – the anticipated date that never happened

Ok, since going on 50 first dates is probably not really going to happen and every time I think about going on 50 dates, I feel utterly exhausted, I decided to also write about the dates I had thought were a go, but never happened.

I met let’s call him Derek (whouups, that’s his real name), through the natural way, online. He contacted me through the website on one of those free weekend things and gave me his email address cause he doesn’t have an account. He was cute, seemed pretty normal, and told me a lot about himself so I emailed him.

We emailed back and forth a couple times and I gave him my number to call. He called once and left a message, then he texted me twice, then he called again…wow “eager” I thought. Then we chatted one night on the phone for almost 2 hours. He seemed really cool, travelled, loved his job etc. We had a lot in common and he’s gearing up to buy a cottage…how awesome!

So at the end of our conversation he asked if I wanted to do dinner that next week. We set it up for early in the week because it was better for him as he works shifts. So on Sunday I texted him to see if Tuesday would work. I didn’t hear from him till Monday night saying “Hi Brea! Yes we’re still on, but could we make it later in the week?” I said for sure but Thursday was my only day and to let me know if that worked for him. I haven’t heard from him since. What the hell was that all about? I was actually looking forward to this one and then nothing?

Could he be married or have a girlfriend? Maybe, although he did contact me through the “Relationship” section – a section dedicated to the more “serious” of daters. Maybe he’s dead? Or has been exposed to extreme radiation or has tuberculosis? Or maybe his black berry fell in the tub with him and he was electrocuted? Or maybe he has a small penis and deep down knows I would not accept that?

We go through all these different “why” scenarios in our mind because there must be some explanation as to “why” he never called back or why he cancelled etc. But the reality is he just wasn’t that into me…or I guess into dating for that matter because I don’t understand how you can’t be into someone you’ve never met?

Anyways, I definitely think it’s the last scenario for Derek’s situation.

Adios!

50 First Dates – Date #3

As a follow up to my blog “The Dating Machine”, I was chatting with Hopeful the other night and decided to blog about my dates. I’m determined to go on a least 50 this year (unless I meet the man of my dreams…or someone I like enough to go on at least 4 dates?). “The Dating Machine” covered my first 2 dating experience, #1 was ok and #2 was a series of multiple disasters.

Onwards to date #3! I recently joined a dating website and I’m actually enjoying it. Other than the occasional 52 year old that messages me, the guys seem ok and I don’t have to pay a cent cause they contact me! Tuesday night I met up with my first online date – we’ll call him Josh. Josh is 34, crazy into health and fitness (although he did have 2 Guinness and cheesecake!) and seemed decent enough. He’s an entrepreneur…owns a couple businesses and is a pretty busy guy. I told him “no wonder he hasn’t had time to date”. He said he wanted to build his empire first and then he could relax. Funny, cause I’m the complete opposite, I seem to keep tearing down my empire and will probably never retire!

We had really good conversation the whole night, there was a slight attraction there I think, although I’m not too sure. I’d need to go on a 2nd or 3rd date to find out for sure. At the end I told him that I had a really good time and he said he did too and that he was so nervous on the way to meet me cause he never does this sort of thing…and then he paid!

In the parking lot we hugged and I said if he wanted to do this again to give me a shout after his trip, he said that sounds great…and then he added “no pressure though right?”…huh? What the heck does that mean? I said “of course not”, but what I really should have said was “No, I don’t need or want to have your babies tomorrow.” Geez. But then he texted me and said he had a really good time and that I was just as cute in person…awwwwww.

It’s funny how people talk about how crazy girls can be when it comes to dating. There are all these self-help dating books directed at women telling us how we should and shouldn’t act, that we shouldn’t be so close minded in finding “the one” (give an ugly guy a chance), don’t talk about kids on the first date etc... And yet, guys seem to be just as ridiculous. I’ve dated guys in the last 2 years who;

1) have asked me if I wanted kids on the second date and who spent all his free time coaching little league

2) constantly phones and harasses me thinking I’m going to change my mind about him

3) told me that they don’t think about me when they’re not with me because they’re still pining over a girl they dated for 5 months 3 years ago

4) who after 5 weeks of dating got ridiculously drunk, made a public scene and then screamed that he “loves me man!!”.

Now if that’s not crazy behavior or in need of a self-help book, then I don’t know what is?
